Dziah Academy History
Dziah Dance Academy has made a huge impact in New Zealand street style hip-hop dance arena. Starting from humble beginnings in Otara 8 years ago Dziah emerged from one persons dream to a three man crew in 2004. This crew stormed South Auckland and went on to win regional and national titles. In 2005 Dziah was the first New Zealand crew to make finals at the World Hip Hop Championships in Los Angels, USA. In 2006 this team went on to win 2nd place on the world stage. Pioneering New Zealand’s unique style in Hip Hop. this escalated throughout New Zealand and International arenas.
They currently have three performance crews, 2.0 (Adults), Dyskz (Varsity) and De Ja Vu (Juniors). Each crew has 8-9 dancers from ages 7- 20years. Dziah, Dcypher and Pitch Black are adult crews that make guest appearances at social events and television from time to time and continue to assist and support in the development of the Dziah Dance Academy. The Academy has approximately 80 members that makeup the development and performance crews. The academy has a diverse multi cultural following and in particular.
It has a voluntary management team of five as well as the individual crew leaders. This team manage the entire operations for the Dziah Youth Trust. DZIAH has had many successes, trophies and titles nationally and internationally over the past five years. However, its achievements are in the development of youth.
